To reflect the diversity of the association, different member company types are separated into different membership categories.
1. Core membership
Core members include electronic retailers and product marketers.
Electronic retailers are defined as companies who sell directly to the consumer via electronic media (home shopping channels, DRTV, Internet, radio, mobile, plus related D2C channels (catalogue, print) and, where applicable, in retail stores).
Product marketers are defined as companies who are owners of product rights, who sell to retailers (electronic and traditional), product providers, product manufacturers.
2. Associated/observer membership
These are suppliers of added value services to electronic retailers, such as media agencies, fulfilment houses, payment processing organizations, TV channels etc. Annual European revenues relate to home shopping/ DRTV business.
3. Sole proprietor / small entrepreneur membership
A new category has been set up to support both newcomers to the industry and those who are smaller marketers and key service providers. Strictly defined as companies with 1 – 3 permanent staff, including the managing executive.
When joining the association, applicants for membership are contractually bound to sign and abide by the ERA Europe Self Regulation Charter. Observer members are entitled to all membership benefits but do not have any voting rights. Only companies qualifying as associate members can chose to become an observer member only.
ERA Europe memberships automatically carry membership of ERA (US).
