First Timers Event at the Budapest Conference

Something is true for everyone participating in the Multi-Channel Home Shopping Conference: at some point, each one of us attended our conference for the first time! The whole industry is present and the urgent question for first timers is who do I have to meet and how do I do this?

This is not easy. We all know how the conference is planned in advance. The conference days are split up into little units of 30 minutes. Meetings are organised months in advance. Everyone has their own global network. The value is to meet up with this network and pack as many (even pre- and post-conference) meetings into our schedule. However, sometimes it would be great to get some new inspiration and meet new people.

Looking at this current reality, it seems impossible to meet the expectations of 'newbies' to have a successful first show (which would mean no follow up shows). If everyone follows this routine, the established industry players will only meet the contacts they already have.

The 2018 pilot Business Speed Dating Event for first time attending companies.

In 2018, we ran a pilot project offering a Speed Business Dating Event for a small group of first timers to the show who met with established players. First Timers and key member companies all met in one room and meetings were co-ordinated. The 'First Timers' had 12 minute meetings with each relevant industry player. When the time was up, new meetings were formed until everyone had met everyone.

For the 2019 event, we are excited that a lot of established industry companies have already committed to participate in the First Timers Event on the first day of the show. That means we can guarantee first time attending companies relevant and important meetings and contacts.

We will actively promote this event with the various interview clips we have produced around the event and are excited about the new inspiration and business opportunities we will all get out of this new format.
